An innovative approach to design, impeccable attention to detail and exquisite craftsmanship have been part of Matsuda’s DNA since Mitsuhiro Matsuda founded this fashion house in Tokyo over 45 years ago. Recognized as being one of the first designers to meld architecture with fashion, Matsuda’s ready-to-wear and eyewear creations caught the eye of an international audience in the 1980’s and 90’s. His campaigns were celebrated collaboration with renowned artists, such as Nan Goldin, Jan Saudek, Juergen Teller, and Bruce Weber, which further reinforced the brand’s status as an innovator and creator of fashionable works of art.
All of its eyewear is hand made by master craftsmen in the storied eyewear workshops of Japan. Many of the styles require over a year to develop and over 250 steps to create.
Only the finest materials, including Japanese acetate, titanium, stainless steel, sterling silver, 18k gold, and 22.5k gold plating are used in each creation.
